Linda Mitchell

Linda Mitchell’s exhibitions span 25 years. Recent solo museum exhibitions include Piedmont Arts Center and Danville Museum, VA; Macnider Museum, IA; Visual Arts Center of NW Florida; Mary G. Hardin Center, AL; Spiva Center, MO and Goddard Center, OK. Local exhibits include Creative Arts Guild in Dalton, Chastain City Gallery, Mason Murer, Callanwolde, Georgia State University, Berry College, Georgia Perimeter College, Macon & Co. She holds MFAs in Drawing & Painting, and in Sculpture from GSU. Awards include 2010 Artist Grant from the City of Atlanta Cultural Affairs. Reviews include Art Papers, the AJC, Creative Loafing, & Birmingham News. Collections include Fulton County Arts Council & King & Spalding.
The current mixed-media paintings are populated by animals, both real and imagined. In these narrative works, animals often become surrogates for human beings and their emotional lives.
